Celebrating National Wellness Month

Throughout the month of August, we raise awareness on selfcare, managing stress and healthy routines to help us live a better life.

Over the past couple of years, wellness and selfcare have become a prominent point of conversation; whether it is for our work-life, home-life and personally as well.

This month encourages us to take better care of ourselves, prioritise wellness (instead of seeing it as a luxury) and have a better quality of life.

So what steps can you take to get you started on your wellness journey?

1. Start with the basics

Drinking more water and eating healthier. By eating the rainbow, we give our bodies all the nutrients it needs to stay healthy while water transports these nutrients around our bodies, providing that much-needed energy. Going straight into heavy exercise without eating a healthy diet can be quite counterintuitive.

2. Get outdoors

Many people think this means that they have to take up jogging or some sort of outdoor sport. But this is simply not the case - a short walk or even sitting outside having a coffee works just as well. The important thing is that you're getting fresh air and some sunlight which is paramount in regulating your hormones and internal circadian rhythm.

3. Mindfulness techniques

Grounding and reflection are mindfulness practices that have helped both my clients, me as a therapist AND me as a person. Taking the time to be still and connect with the Earth allows me to pull on the Earth's energy to help me cleanse my energy. Grounding also allows me to help my clients in releasing any bad energy, dispelling what isn't working for them and providing more positive energy, enabling the body to be open to healing.

Let's make it a goal to start your wellness journey this month and maintain it to live a happier, healthier life!

Take care,
